Moderator Candidate Interviews!
Over the past week or so we were able to have a conversation with each one of the four candidates running for the office of Moderator of the General Assembly. We are particularly excited about this because this may be the first time that any Presbyterian can actually hear from the candidates before the Assembly meets. There are usually a number of print interviews with the candidates, but we believe that being able to hear them speak and have a conversation gives a little more insight into who they are and how they would lead as Moderator. Enjoy!
Here are the interviews and the websites you can go to to learn more about each candidate.

Bruce Reyes-Chow - Bruce’s Interview - Bruce’s Website
Roger Shoemaker - Roger’s Interview - Roger’s Website
Bill Teng - Bill’s Interview - Bill’s Website
This is part of our ongoing GA coverage which began with Episode 42.

Thanks for these great interviews. It’s nice to have something beyond sound bytes. I particularly enjoyed the repartee between interviewers and interviewees, the pointed quesstions about age and power, the questions about prayer life and superpowers.

This must be a first, to have interviews like this available for anyone to download at any time. As a commissioner to the 217th GA, I wish this type of interview had been available for commissioners to listen to in order to prepare for the process. Vocal inflection, the pauses in interviews, etc cannot be conveyed ‘decently’ through printed publications… thank you!

Thanks to all of you for your hard work, above and beyond the call of normal pastor-ly duty. He, he, he, I said “duty.” The interviews are very helpful and do a great job at giving us a sense of who these candidates really are, apart from what is in print, hearing a voice really helps.
Also, my prayers are with both Shawn and Zach as they grieve the loss of their fathers. Richard and I gave a donation to this worthy endeavor in order to honor their memory and to give thanks for your faithfulness. May God’s peace surround you.
with love,
Richard and Martha Goodman
